The Church of Scientology is a controversial religion founded by science fiction writer, L. Ron Hubbard.
Hubbard wrote many books, essays, and lectures based on his philosophical beliefs and began creating Scientology organizations in the early 1950s.
{GirlShrink.com is a site for expert advice and counseling for women on relationships, mental health and more.} As with most religions, Scientology seeks a world free of crime, hatred, ignorance etc., and has a very hands-on way of accomplishing those goals in the communities it serves.
A big controversy around the Church of Scientology, is on its views of psychology and psychiatry. They have very strong views that psychiatry does nothing to help people and is in fact a “pseudoscience”.
Many critics of Scientology will say that Hubbard’s theories were not based on any facts, and therefore does not make it a science. Others would call it a dangerous cult. Not a “real” religion.

I read this one when I was 18 years old and it went completely over my head. I read it later, and while I see good intent, thought it was off the mark and a bit culturally biased. But form your own opinion:)
Scientology: The Fundamentals of Thought
In an effort to understand this religion a little better and to give this author one more try – I read this. I find Hubbard a difficult read. He probably needed a good editor:) But this will tell you what Scientology is all about. So read it if you’re interested in knowing more without going to a Sunday church service.
